Mission

La mission de l’Association UNTD est d’identifier, de préserver et de promouvoir l’histoire et les valeurs du programme DUIN et de ses successeurs, en mettant l’accent sur le leadership, l’honnêteté, l’engagement, le service et la discipline personnelle.

Les membres de l’Association UNTD auront généralement suivi une formation dans l’un ou l’autre des programmes de formation des officiers de la Réserve navale, DUIN*, PFUOR, EORN, DUINv2 ou PIRO, ou auront servi en tant que commandants, officiers d’état-major ou instructeurs, et soutiendront la vision et la mission de l’Association. La liste nominative de l’Association contient actuellement plus de 10 000 inscriptions, dont presque tous ceux qui, à un moment donné, s’appelaient élèves-officiers.

Les membres de l’Association s’intéressent toujours à la Marine royale canadienne et en particulier à la formation passée, présente et future des officiers de la Réserve navale. L’Association entretient des contacts durables avec l’Association navale du Canada et, par l’entremise de membres individuels, avec des unités de la Réserve navale de tout le pays, où des événements d’intérêt commun sont encouragés.

La liste nominale est essentielle à la préservation des liens entre les membres et est maintenue avec diligence. La liste est consultable et peut être triée et filtrée.

Les membres actifs sont ceux qui choisissent de participer activement aux affaires de l’Association, qui peuvent voter aux réunions et qui paient les cotisations. Tous les membres pour lesquels les coordonnées sont disponibles reçoivent le bulletin périodique et sont les bienvenus aux événements de l’Association.

L’Association n’est pas politiquement impliquée et ne joue aucun rôle de lobby. Il s’agit d’un réseau de personnes non incorporé, sans but lucratif, doté d’un Conseil d’administration responsable devant les membres actifs lors des assemblées générales périodiques. En tant qu’une organisation nationale, l’Association UNTD du Canada s’efforce d’être un milieu accueillant pour tous les Canadiens ayant une expérience et/ou un intérêt pour les programmes de formation des élèves-officiers de la Réserve navale. Le dynamisme et la vitalité de l’Association reposent sur la connectivité de tous ses membres grâce au partage régulier d’informations et à la participation aux activités visant à faire en sorte que chacun puisse se sentir inclus.

Conséquemment, l’Association compte améliorer l’attrait et l’accès à ses programmes, notamment auprès de la communauté francophone, en intégrant davantage de contenu bilingue dans ses communications. Des éléments importants du site Web seront désormais présentés dans les deux langues officielles. De plus, le site Web et le bulletin d’information invitent la contribution d’articles et de récits, lesquels seront publiés dans une ou les deux langues officielles.

 

Comment l’Association maintient les liens

  • Organise des archives d’information concernant le Programme DUIN, les
    divers programmes qui en découlent, leurs membres et leurs réalisations;
  • Facilite la camaraderie et la communication entre nos membres;
  • Publie un bulletin périodique; et occasionnellement, d’autres articles, livres et communiqués de presse;
  • Maintient un site Web contenant des nouvelles, des renseignements, des photos, des archives et des liens avec les membres et d’autres sites Web d’intérêt pour nos membres;
  • Favorise les rassemblements régionaux et nationaux de nos membres;
  • Soutient les projets historiques de la Réserve navale qui sont pertinents.

*Bien qu’il s’agisse d’un programme actif, il n’existait pas de version française du nom UNTD, mais il a ensuite été traduit en Divisions universitaires d’instruction navale (DUIN).

Members of best division (?) reveling in award in Beer Garden of Gunroom at HMCS Cornwallis, circa 1963. The wall enclosing the garden between the wings of the block cost $800 and was subject to much debate. Its official opening was on July 18, 1962, by Cmdre M.A. Medland.

Baker Dirk 1963

The Baker Dirk was awarded annually to the Cadet Captain of UNTD Division STAR OAC. It was originally donated by LtCdr Baker, founder of the UNTD, in 1954.
